All electoral maps including CNN and USA give Illinois to Gore. It may be tightening but so far neither party has spent any noticeable money there. If Bush think he can take it he'll go after it. So far though no evidence of that. And frankly if Bush takes Illinois it's all over for Gore. Gore needs to turn this around for sure. We'll see what happens. Gore can still win this one despite the boasting and bravado on the GOP side. They're pretending not to be nervous but they know they're still very vulnerable unless Bush can take PA, Minn, the Northwest or Michigan away from Gore. These are states which should go democrat but they are all close. If you've read my electoral counts you can see the situation. Basically if Gore can hang onto the Northwest, Michigan, Wisc, Minn, PA, NH and Tennessee he wins - by only four electoral votes. Michigan may be the cliff-hanger. And don't forget these razor thin margins could go Gore's way at the last minute, together with Nader supporters and give him all of the above. Clinton might also deliver Arkansas. If Gore can steal any of the other toss-up states from Bush he's in command. But if Bush can steal any of the above states from Gore he's in.

<<I'd say he figures he doesn't need to as Ill. is not critical to his winning. >>

Another problem in Illinois is the 500,000 that arise from graves to vote straight dem in Chicago.

Saw the Reverend Jackson on TV today. What a piece of work. He kept saying 100% of Bush's tax cut would go to Bill Gates, dang I didn't know Gates was the only person paying taxes. "Revered would you like a cup of coffee?" "I'll take a cup of coffee for women's right of choice (didn't say choice of what) and for the children."
