But, but...speaking from a naive but observant perspective, meaning I don't know how this happens, but have observed that it does: unexplained stock movement often occurs before announcements. I think the market makers know the news before even we on the threads do...and I'm pretty darned sure people within and around the companies involved know what is up...We here on the threads noticed SEPR was unusually strong in the recent weeks--not brilliant, not a shooting star, but more than just resilient. And it did that while supporting quite a few (insider) sales, correct? (If anything, from that strength, we expected good news.) With all due respect, IJ, I don't see how the SEC or even the companies involved can monitor _all_ stock purchases by family and friends despite pledges made by employees. (here comes my naivete--can they? do they? Isn't it time consuming and expensive and usually only undertaken when no other solution is acceptable?) Even for insider or significant shareholder sales, they file their intent to sell (Form 4s?)...but how much are those sales scrutinized? I guess I'm being a devil's advocate here...I must say I feel a bit burned by this recent development and have a little less confidence in management.

But all I'm maintaining is that people will be people and self-interest is everywhere, not that anyone in particular has been unethical or unlawful.
