I would suggest no religion OR philosophy has any claim on the truth. No religion or philosophy may be objectively true- there's just no way to know. Subjectively obviously these belief systems have great personal meaning- but only to the people who believe them.

Hi Steve, Just wondering if you hold yourself to the same standard as everybody else, regarding your own beliefs? Do you see a difference between saying all opinions are to be equally tolerated, and all opinions are equally valid or true? If not, then why do you care? If you do how do you distinguish between what is true and what is not?

"What is important is that all members of all faiths must acknowledge that all faiths are purely a matter of faith, and that we have no way of knowing which faith and which scripture, if any, actually does represent the word of God, assuming that there is a God."

Why is this important?
Have a good evening
Greg

I'm curious: why do you believe it? What convinced you?

What convinced me was the everyday struggles I had to face while growing up in a very religious family. While we were religious, I felt as if something was missing. I felt as if life had no purpose at all. As I said in an earlier post, I was baptized Mormon in Salt Lake City, and I had no choice but to learn more about the practice that I had taken on. So it went with all of the religions I was baptized in.

After many years of searching, after many years of seeing what I believe to be supernatural occurances (Miracles if you will), I started yet another search trying to discover what, if any, God seemed to exist, and how I could get to know Him. Many things in my life were changed as a direct result of my search.

I believe some try to discredit the Bible and its principles, while others try to find another "something" to believe in. I'm in the latter category. I've never thought of trying not to believe, and it seems that some people are willing to do so.

Yes, I agree, some will NOT find truth in the Bible, while others, like myself, see it as being the only truth.

The Bible I read is based on being written by men through "Divine inspiration from the Holy Spirit." No other book can proclaim that. While I believe there were other great men who wrote books, not in the Bible of Christians, under divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the interpretation of those books exceeded what the author meant for revelation. They were taken out of context and religions were formed solely on those writings.

But yes, you are very right in saying that "all members of all faiths must acknowledge that all faiths are purely a matter of faith..."
