I said:A democracy is about majority rule with minority rights, correct?
you answered>No.

I said: It never quite works out like that does it,

you answered>It always works out that way.

So which is it, are you saying that, no, a democracy isn't about majority rule with minority rights,

The minority has no other rights than those enjoyed by the majority and the majority doesn't rule.

and if you are saying that, what is your definition of democracy and how does it not include those two things?

Neither Plato, De Tocqueville, or Twain could define Democracy. It isn't definable, but the Founding Fathers of this nation wouldn't care for your definition and so the Constitution doesn't explicitly say that.

As for it always works out that way, are you saying there are no instances where minority rights are abridged by the majority? If so, how can you say that in a country where we had slavery for three hundred years?

There is a free market in democracies.

I choose to live under a democracy and I will continue to because I absolutely believe that it is the best form of government. That doesn't blind me to it's shortcomings and keep me from complaining about them. Complaining about the government is a right in a democracy.
