Liz: Anybody who looks at the data can see that oil is still important in our economy -- and our dependence on ME oil did not go away -- we just forgot about it for a while. Perhaps after Kuwait we should have learned our lesson - but instead perhaps we thought it was ok to depend on "cheap and plentiful" ME oil because the US military could reduce our risk. It was a mistake. It creates a vulnerability. That is why we can be held hostage to events there -- my only real point.
