Cal, Yes indeed the traditional phot business is being hollowed out. Soon the traditional camera makers will be under pressure as people migrate to digital.
Some have mentioned the disposable cameras as beinbg good for film....yes to a point, however it is bad to camera makers as anyone and his dog can mold those cameras and this further isolates the camera makers. Now the camera makers are making digital cemeras that change lenses etc and are cutting the throats of the film makers in return.

All I know is with movie film, personal film, X-ray film all going digital I am hard pressed to find a silver lining in this for silver.
true some personal adornment jewellery will expand as the third world buys more, also as silver stays cheaper and cheaper. In constant $$ silver has fallen quite a lot already..
