That is no different than the P4 will scale to 2 GHz on a 0.18u process rumor. Matter of fact, Kyrotech will take a 1.2GHz Tbird (Since anyone can purchase easily from the web, it is definitely real not rumor) and make it run at 1.6 GHz at 266MHz DDR (33% overclock that they have shown to be able to do with many AMD CPUs over the years (with full factory warranty no less)). It merely awaits a 760 based motherboard. Thus, if a 760 based (or KT133A based) motherboard appears before P4, AMD will still have the fastest warranteed x86 CPU out there (clock wise). The 1.3GHz Tbird (it is rumored at this time but is highly likely) would change to a 1.7GHz+ Kyroed and the 1.5GHz Mustang (not a rumor since Jerry stated they will have in Jan 01 (per CC)) would thus go at 2GHz Kyroed. EV6 is good to 400MHz (200MHz DDR) and thus, the known good rates are 200, 266, 300, 333, 366, and 400 (DDR SDRAM is available at all these speeds in the graphics area). Thus FSB overclocks exist for 266MHZ FSB EV6 CPUs (12.5%, 25%, 37.5%, and 50%). Since Intel does not allow this practice, AMD will be abke to hold to the crown in this way. But IMHO, AMD will be able to keep abreast and possibly even ahead without resorting to this. When dual core comes in Sledgehammer, P4 and its derivatives will be snowed under (I do think they should use the "Jackhammer" name for the ultimate in the hammer family (4 or 8 core), it just leaves an enticing picture of its use to end the Monolithic Intel Dynasty (all in pieces getting smaller and smaller (til gone))). All in all, the next 12 months may even be more exciting than the last 12 months. Pete
