I've printed that little list out. I saw and liked The Grandfather a lot. And Not One Less is wonderful, too. I think children would like it a lot. Children old enough for subtitles, or to have them read aloud, with a little explanation. (The movie would be like an animated book.) I looked for that long list of your movie recommendations on my computer, and can't find it. So I have no idea. But some movies that i've loved recently are on the list below, which i just emailed to a friend. I've recently discovered Chinese movies. These two are Japanese, and I adored both of them: After Life Shall We Dance Some of my Chinese favorites (assuming you can bear having your heart broken over and over again) are The Yellow Earth To Live Raise the Red Lanterns My Concubine The King of Masks The Blue Kite Red Firecrackers Green Firecrackers An Iranian movie I liked was Leila. Another Iranian movie I liked was Children of Heaven. (I thought it was very very well done near-shlock, with magnificent acting, particularly by the little boy (amazing) and directing, and it turned into art in the last scene.) An Arab movie I liked was The Color of Paradise. Maybe the most tedious movie i've ever seen was Les Rendezvous d'Ana. Do not see it. The French can really make boring movies. The French Twist was uninteresting. My Man was okay, I guess. I liked After Sex. I loved Horseman on the Roof, which I think I found on your list. And Jean de Florette & its sequel, Manon of the Spring. Of course I love all the Jane Austens. A movie that was sort of like watching paint dry, and a soap opera, but that I liked anyway, a chick flick only, was Scent of Green Papaya. Vietnamese. I liked Central Station a lot. Spanish. I've seen American movies recently, too, but not many I remembered five minutes after seeing it. I loved Down By Law, and that's American. Boring first fifteen minutes. I liked Being John Malkovich. I liked American Beauty, it was interesting. Repellent but interesting. I thought Eyes Wide Shut was stupid. I started to watch Fargo, and think it was going to be a very good movie, but i wasn't up for what it seemed about to become. I liked Welcome to the Doll House. Strange but interesting. I see so many movies with subtitles that when a film in English goes on I keep looking at the bottom of the screen to see the dialog in text. I see most of Julia Robert's movies just because I like her. The movies aren't memorable, though. There is a movie thread, this shouldn't be here. Unless of course I am proposing that God be replaced by cinema.
