Thats exactly why they want to keep the world hooked on oil. Saudi is dependent on oil exports. They will try to charge as much as they can for it without sending anyone's economy or stock market into recession. Oil price spikes aren't really in their long term interest either.

The Saudis can always point out to their own people that the vast majority of America's oil comes from elsewhere, and that most of Saudi's oil goes to Asia.

There are other ways to be seen helping the Palestinians, such as talking tough and sending money.
