Anne Richards is a cool smart funny lady. But she under-estimated the vicious teflon smirk of GW. She thought he was a lightweight business failure and rich kid slacker. She was right about that but he's also a clever politician who has appealing and telegenic image and huge money behind him. On the issues Richards could beat him to a pulp but he smirked and evaded his way right through her attacks with macho swagger and made her look like a wimp. Same style he's using against Gore and unfortunately it's working, to the detriment of our country I'm afraid. And if you don't believe me look at GW's record in Texas. Crime, drug use, pollution and drop-out rates up. Teacher pay and health care way down. His pride education at best a mixed bag. And he's in the pockets of oil and heavy industry, among others. GW is a slick one all right. The GOP now has its own "slick Willy". But one who doesn't like to work hard or care about people other than his own.
