(NASDAQ:NTAP - news), the leading provider of network-attached data access and content delivery solutions, today announced the formation of the Network Appliance Federal Systems, Inc. subsidiary, to develop and expand the company's focus on federal and government customers.
The company also named Jay Chabrow, to the newly created position of general manager, Network Appliance Federal Systems, Inc. Chabrow has over 30 years of management and procurement experience in the federal community, focused primarily on serving the Department of Defense, NASA and the intelligence community. In June 2000, Chabrow was awarded NASA's Public Service Medal.
Network Appliance's new organization will act as a wholly owned subsidiary and establish U.S. operations in three locations: Washington D.C., Denver and San Jose, California.
The group will also establish a globally focused service and support capability, working with customers to deploy enterprise-class network storage operations and systems for Network Appliance's worldwide government customer base. The company plans to expand internationally in Europe and the Pacific Rim in 2001.
According to Gartner Group, federal, state and local governments will spend approximately $1.4 billion on e-government solutions, including specified projects of hardware and software systems and services in 2000, and projected expenditures are predicted to reach $6.5 billion in 2005.
