Actually, that isn't completely correct. The answer is "undefined". The problem is that there is no way to decide if it should be positive infinity or negative infinity. Graph 1/0, for example, and look at both sides of the x-axis.

0/0 is even worse and can "evaluate" to positive infinity, negative infinity, any constant, or even no answer depending on how you look at it!
