TXN and other semi stocks were mentioned this morning on CNBC by Chuck Hill from First Call. He cited worry over slowdown in earnings.

TXN last week:
* Elaine Gazerelli "likes the semi-conductors TXN and INTC/"
* David Lui of the Strong International Fund ‘hold’ or a ‘weak buy’. Good value stock to own as cell phone business grows.

* A.J. Edwards DOWNGRADE to ACCUMULATE Aggressive, LOWERING Price Target to $65, 3Q00 as expected. DSP sales were strong but could have been better. Expect revenue to remain flat in 4Q. Lowering estimates slightly given reduced visibility next year.

..and TXN was featured in this week's Barron's (MU mentioned also):

<TXN that company known for technology for portable radios and pocket calculators is rolling onward and upward.

- TXN has recently become leaner and, some would say, more productive by jettisoning its oil field business (to HAL), mid-sized computers (to HWP), notebooks (to Acer), and defense products, including missiles (to RTNa).

- The biggest divestment however was its memory chip operation to MU.

- This was large for TXN, garnering $1.63 billion in profits in the sale of 25MM MU shares.

- TXN kept 32MM shares of MU (valued at $900MM).

- Earnings at TXN are expected at $2.1 billion in 2000.

- Last week saw big fluctuations in TXN stock - from a 52 week low of 35 back up to just under 50 on Friday.

- The biggest change in the semiconductor industry in 15 years is DSP (digital signal processing).

- While INTC capitalized on the PC revolution, TXN is the leader in DSP.

- This analyst explained DSP this way "anything that is real time, DSP is the chosen brain".

- TXN manufacturers chips, then works with its small customers to tailor them to their specific needs.

- This symbiotic relationship has engendered trust and loyalty in TXN's customer base.

- The writer of this article compares the INTC processor that is designed to do many different things at once to TXN's processor that does the same thing over and over again.

- There is the possibility that LU and MOT could "come to" some day and notice the profits to be made in the chip market.

- It is the opinion of the writer that if they do, they will see a market with deep loyalties to TXN.

- Apparently, TXN has become the innovator it was in the 60's in the '90's.>
