No, $16.338 TRILLION was the total US market cap as of the end of day Friday, 10/20/00, derived by multiplying the number of shares outstanding by the closing price for each stock, and then adding them all up. Between close of day Thursday and close of day Friday, about $160 BILLION was added to the total US market cap. As UnBelievable pointed out a couple of weeks ago, that figure doesn't really tell you how many real dollars were added, but I can't think of any other way to measure it.
