From today's Biocentury, page 10:

"In fact, the R-isomer is less potent than the S-isomer, which led LLY to run its trial of R-fluoxetine using an eight-fold higher dose than is used with Prozac in order to improve efficacy."

Not quite what I originally posted, but the inference is the same. Don't see duration of action impacting this.

Again, have not yet tracked down the original source for this.
