Why would would they patch 98, it su**ed...

MSFT needed to put out a new-and-improved upgrade because their revenue growth also su**s. The consumer version of Win2000 is maybe 1 year from being ready (because of the huge compatibility problems with all the junky consumer applications, games etc). So they tossed out a Win98 bug-fix release.

Apparently the WinME upgrade package is bundled with so many freebies that people are buying the upgrade package just for the free coupons, then tossing the actual WinME CD into the trash. I assume MSFT did this because they know the actual product is near-worthless.
