Comparing Linux RAM usage to that of Win2000 is like asking why does a VW bug use less fuel at top speed than a Ferrari.

Well, I was talking database servers, e-Commerce solutions, Lotus Domino, SAP, scientific calculations, 3D graphics rendering. This all runs on the same Linux, that runs in 4MB RAM. I would like to see SAP running on NT embedded...

Right now, Linux and NT perform comparable, because RAM speed doesn't matter that much. The question is, whether this will still be the case when we reach the 2-5GHz Pentium processor. At that time, RAM timing is everything, processor speed is irrelevant.
