The SEMI book-to-bill ration of 1.16 was released this
evening. While the number was down from from 1.23 listed
for the month of August, it still indicates an expanding
market. I submit that the entire year of 2000 has been has
been much stronger than 1999, including the just released
September numbers of BtB and bookings. The tables below
show this difference.

The first table compares BtB between 1999 and 2000. Notice
that each month this year is better than last year.

B-to-B B-to-B
MONTH 1999 2000 DIFF
JAN 1.12 1.39 0.27
FEB 1.22 1.44 0.23
MAR 1.33 1.46 0.13
APR 1.28 1.36 0.09
MAY 1.24 1.29 0.04
JUNE 1.21 1.27 0.05
JULY 1.11 1.22 0.11
AUG 1.09 1.23 0.14
SEP 1.07 1.16 0.09
OCT 1.08
NOV 1.11
DEC 1.19

The second table compares bookings between 1999 and 2000.
I keep reading that the end of the cycle is here, but the
numbers don't show it.
