Yu has asked to see how the average American soldier lives, and will be taken to West Point, N.Y., home of the Army's military academy; Bolling AFB, Washington, D.C.; Fort Jackson, S.C.; and Patrick AFB, Fl.

Well, I hope you all know what is over at Bolling AFB...

It's the DIA, military counterpart of the CIA.

But it's not unknown for big-wig foreign brass to visit there. I personally met Oleg Kalugin over there as part of a seminar (and had him autograph his autobiography for me..) Look him up and you'll be somewhat amused....:0)

As for China, I'm not worried about Taiwan too much. The Chinese would face an operation comparable to the Allied invasion of Normandy. They have neither the blue water navy/amphibious force or air force that is requisite for such an extensive undertaking.

What I worry about more is that Taiwan is looking to obtain nuclear weaponry in order to provide themselves the ultimate in "insurance policies". "You invade and conquer us, we nuke you and take millions of mainland chinese with us".

Kinda the same thing we could be about to see in the Mid-East. I may be getting a bit overreactive here, but I think we're about to see a limited war erupt between the Arabs and Israelis. The rhetoric is getting just a bit out of hand over there and encouraging the extremists on both sides.

But should a war erupt, I think it would be a face-saving effort by the Arabs to show they "did something". But due to Israel's nukes, they will stop short of directly threatening the survival of the Jewish state.

Regards,

Ron
