That this is "pretty early" to you, may imply that this sort of warning at this juncture in the quarter, would normally only be given to the wirehouses and/or the investment bankers of the company and a few close personal friends.

This reg FD stuff is a seachange, and will be hugely beneficial to individual investors, at the expense of larger funds in the future.

The argument that this will make stocks more volatile is disingenuine.

The way that this "less volatility" would work in the past is that quasi-insiders would be able to dump their stock before the news got out, thereby gradually reducing the value. It may be that now the reverse will be true, with less secrets, individuals may feel better about holding through the news, knowing that someone else does not have a different story.
