With respect to September being the yearly low, don't we hear an echo of this thread in 1997. I think we reassured each other with this idea, but it didn't work that way that time. Straight in the tank after that.

Not only has September been the lowest of the year traditionally, these are also PRELIMINARY numbers which usually go up for the next 2 months as they become REVISED then FINAL.

None will remember that neither.

ASM International reports strong growth despite capacity and component shortages

BILTHOVEN, Netherlands -- Despite a shortage of manufacturing capacity and components, ASM International N.V. here today said that its profit nearly quadrupled to $24.1 million in its third quarter ended Sept. 30, as compared to the like period a year ago.

Sales for the quarter were $211 million, more than two times the net sales in the same period last year. Still, the company said that “constraints at sub-contractors and some shortage in components resulted in lower than planned shipments in the quarter.”
