I can't find it , but someone on here today speculated that it would be impossible to believe that one firm, GS, would not get buried by the other firms.
Let us not forget that they are all most likely in the same boat. By selling their positions they would have to realize losses, something many of them are most likely reluctant to do. A white knight looks as good to them as it does to us in trying times. Markups are achieved the same way. We all look good, so don't rock the boat.
The potential sellers are greedy like the rest of us.
I can easily remember being talked out of selling an oil stock in them days after I had been talked into buying it. It's not a concerted effort exactly, but due to fear and insecurity people will lay off the sell button, at least for a while.

I've given up on what gold is telling us anymore, but things just don't feel right with the huge trade deficit, high oil prices, and chaos in the Middle East. I think gold has become a giant sleeper that is going to come alive any day now. In fact I will go so far as to predict that the price of gold will jump $10 by the end of the week. You heard it here first <G>.
