What do Admin Members get to do?

John, a question about basic members.

They can view our profiles? When Brad first had it set up, only a member who was "in" could view profiles.

What does one need to do to become a "basic member"? I guess to a degree, I feel some(more) of my privacy has been compromised. Glad to know you informed us of the change.

BTW, will advanced search be available to all members?

Any spammer-spankers, please feel free to bookmark this message and link to it as appropriate...

For future reference, clarification of our stance regarding advertising via our message bases:

Personal Profile: Anything goes, as long as it's not vulgar, obscene, or objectionable. If you want to put a 1600x1200
blinking ad in your profile, go for it.

Thread headers: The header itself can't be used for advertising. It can, however, link to another website if the link is in
support of non-advertising content in the header.

Messages: No advertising at all. At most, you can include a link to your website after your name (like a signature line)
occasionally, and you can link to a specific page on your site (not the homepage) if the link directly supports the content of
your message, which must not be an ad.

The approach we prefer people to use is to include their "advertising" in their profile, then post messages of such high
quality that people want to go to their profile.

Of course, as with so many other things, there are gray areas, but not too much here. For example, QCharts has a support thread here. We've got no problem with that because they're not using the thread to advertise, and have set up shop here for tech support since their product is already widely used among SI members.

Regards,

SI Admin (Bob)
