"Guns are already "outlawed". Seen anyone carrying around a bazooka?" A bazooka would be classified as a a grenade launcher.

Outlawed, illegal and banned have different legal meaning.
For instance when God throw Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden there was no $50 fine for copulating on the footpath. They were totally banned from coming back in, if they would have come back in they would have been thrown in jail for at least 50 days for the first infraction.

You said "If guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns." I said "if guns are outlawed only criminals will have guns because they (i.e. criminal and citizen) will be breaking the law by owning them." Does your religion believe guns are bad or good?? The simple way to restrict gun usage is to make all gun ownership illegal. That way you can use direct search and seizure methods against both citizens and criminals.

"So, if they're outlawed, will the police no longer carry guns? if the speed limit is 65, how do the police catch up to anyone going 75??" I believe the simple way to make it legal for the police to carry guns after they are outlawed is to make police officers into officers of the law. Perhaps they could be given a badge or some special training followed by a secular humanist swearing in ceremony. This way under special circumstances they could break the traffic laws and speed to apprehend other secular humanists that got out of line. However, they should have some type of screeching device or flashing lights so law abiding secular humanists can get out of the way.

Scott, you live in the U.S. if you wanted a bazooka you could probably have one in a couple of days. Joe and I live in Canada where you have to have a licence to load software. It cost me a hundred bucks and a load of aggravation just to get registered to own a gun I've had for almost thirty years. Our fearless leaders have spent almost a half a billion on this program and all they have done is aggravated a bunch of duck hunters. Just this evening my father in-law gave me two shotguns because he can't be bothered with the hassle.
Meanwhile back at the ranch all the bikers and punks have all the guns they could possibly want. None are registered and they won't be because bleeding heart judges won't send anyone to jail. Don't want to hurt their self esteem now do we.
I thought your post made zero sense.
Just venting a bit
