I recall recently a TV report on Cspan or the likes. It gave equal time reporting on each candidates speech for that day. The first was Bush who was very upbeat speaking to a very animated group that was packed in and virtually hanging from the rafters in what appeared to be some type of manufacturing facility. Bush was repeatedly interrupted by wild cheers and applause. By contrast Gore was speaking at large formal hall filled with mostly quiet listeners as he presented his dower pronouncements of what would happen if he was not elected. He was met by only occasional subdued applause. I remember thinking how opposite the two presentations were and the reaction they generated.
