William, that's very fair skepticism. I will find an on-line copy of the list of items the US prohibits exporting to Iraq and will post it for you. Of the many items it specifically prohibits by name is "powdered infant formula". It is a federal crime for US citizens to send infant formula to Iraq! I think you are skeptical because you are a fair and decent person. But fair people do not get to make middle east policy in the US. Instead that section is reserved for one-sided supporters of Israel.

Below is a quote from legislation h.r. 3825 introduced in congress. I am quoting it because it seeks to lift the prohibition on export of some items. It illustrates what is currently prohibited.

-------------------------

to the export of any food or other agricultural products (including fertilizer), medicines, medical supplies, medical instruments, or medical equipment, or with respect to travel incident to the sale or delivery of food or other agricultural products (including fertilizer), medicines, medical supplies, medical instruments, or medical equipment, to Iraq.

---------------------

The bill (signed so far by approx 60 congress-persons) seeks to lift these prohibitions.
