S Korean Imt 2000 Licensing Applications to be Received This Week Tuesday, October 24 3:48 PM SGT SEOUL, Oct 24 Asia Pulse - The Information and Communication Ministry said Tuesday it will begin receiving IMT-2000 licensing applications from Wednesday. After the Oct 31 application deadline, the ministry will evaluate applicants, convene a deliberation committee and finally select the next-generation mobile phone service providers. According to the ministry's plan, three businesses will be selected: one that adopts a synchronous mode, another that adopts an asynchronous mode and the other that can adopt either of the two modes. But, all three big contenders, SK Telecom, Korea Telecom and LG Telecom, prefer the asynchronous mode. (Yonhap)
