To: PJ Strifas who wrote (34432 ) 10/24/2000 1:15:05 PM From: Frederick Smart Respond to of 42771 Peter.... >>Sorry - I just have to comment on this: >>Just know that I am very aware of the fact that 95% of the >>people who read my posts don't understand what the heck >>I'm trying to share. In EVERY writing class I ever sat in (more than I dare to remember but most notably at NYU), there was one fact I did make note of: If your audience doesn't understand you, it's your fault! It's the writer's responsibility to "make" the audience "understand/see/comprehend" the message. So by your own admission, you are failing. To me, your statement is a pure "assignment of blame" - they don't understand - where in reality it may just be that you do not get your point across in a convincing fashion. Perhaps you might have to admit that your message is just another message in a world full of messages. Again, the wonderous aspect of this world is that it's neither right or wrong - it's just a matter of whether or not it fits in. Regards, Peter J Strifas>> You're exactly right!! By my own admission I am failing. And I agree that message is "just another message." There's nothing to assign blame for. What is, is. Period. Life is just an incredible adventure. That's just how I "see" and "feel" observe the world around me. I feel like a little kid. There's so much to see, do, feel, share, learn, fail over, pick yourself up from and move on and celebrate over. Today I'm flying to the greater Boston/Hartford area to meet with some folks I've been working with on some projects/initiatives. On Thursday I'm the featured speaker at a dinner sponsored by a leading financial services firm. Yep, and as crazy as this may sound, they are paying for my time, flight and hotel, etc. The speech is on Thursday in the greater Boston area. The title of the speech will be "Smart Bandwidth." This will be the first "Keep it simple stupid" childlike attempt at dragging some extremely educated folks - all in this group are either mensa or have at least 2 higher graduate degrees - through this vision of the way I think more and more individuals are going to accept for how the world really operates. And there will direct ties and references in this speech about shareholder activism, empowerment and building community, etc. All the stuff you and I and others have shared openly on this board for the past 2-3 years. And Peter, you have a message that I don't have. Scott has a message that you nor I have. Paul has a message that nobody else has. Captain Jack has a message, too. So does Martin and EVERYONE who comes and risks to connect, communicate, collaborate and cooperate with others in this community. The great thing about this is that EVERYONE learns even from the least of those who risk and fail. And I'll be the first to admit that I risk and fail and risk and fail and risk and fail every day all the time. And I'll be the first to admit that my message "just doesn't fit" for that many people. But this is no reason to derrogate myself or get down on myself. Life is too short. There really is nothing to be angry, depressed or frustrated over. This world is a wonderful, incredible place with so much to see, feel, do, risk and share with others. There are always people who we can reach out and connect to. There are alway people who could benefit from your ideas and energy. You are a sleeping giant in my book. I firmly believe that Peter Strifas will be a name that will be known throughout the world in these special circles that cover community, technology, strategy, direction and purpose. Forget about Frederick Smart. I have nothing to do with this other than to believe and trust without question that you have an incredible things to offer this world. The same applies to Scott, Toy, Paul, Captain and others. I have nothing but good things to say, feel and share about individuals who have openly and freely risked and shared in ways that add to the level of trust and energy in the world. Sure I have a problem with Stewart Nelson and Scott spinning around that dialogue, but that's my right. I feel Novell and this community deserves much better than this. And this is nothing personal against Stewart. I'm going after his actions. So here I go again rambling and people have perhaps dropped off this note long ago. But that's fine. For as always, your comments are appreciated. Peace. GO!!
