Here is where some of the shorting has come from, lets hope they are finished!

Just as gutsy were the fund's short positions accounting for 42% of assets. Essentially, Heebner shorted the heroes of 1999. He bet a whopping 15% of the fund against Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN - news). He also bet against network providers Global Crossing (Nasdaq: GBLX - news), Level 3 Communications (Nasdaq: LVLT - news), and NextLink Communications .

As you might guess, the fund is having one hell of an October. The fund had an adequate 6% return through September but now it's up 18.5% for the year to date. Heebner's one of those managers who will always either look like a genius or an idiot depending on what time period you're looking at. If I were to invest in the fund, I'd use it as a diversifier for maybe 5% or less of my portfolio. It will always be different and it will be free from Wall Street groupthink.
