I had no idea the SDLI purchase was that critical for JDSU in terms of next generation products, tho I knew SDLI had the most up to date technology. When two major companies --- GLW and JDSU --- bid on a little guy like SDLI and the price ends up being the highest ever paid for a technology company, there has to be a reason. I tried saying as much when the merger was first announced, but the mind is a strange place and few wanted to admit JDSU wasn't already the leader in every respect. You certainly weren't alone. I would have preferred having SDLI independent, but long-term the benefits of the merger are compelling and I've come to terms with it. Pat
