I'll be happy to compare Cisco and Nortel after the quarterly reports are in. In previous quarters, Nortel couldn't even hold a candle to the kinds of numbers Cisco puts up from a fundamental basis. They are not bad by any means, but not in the same league as Cisco. Of course Lucent is and has been a time bomb for well over 9 quarters.

because of Cisco's pooling of interest accounting methods we can't compare, apples to apples,

Unless the acquired company was not public, the prior quarter's results from Cisco and the other company are simply added to get the pooled statement, so it doesn't seem to me that this is so obscure.
