Maverick
mostly because of the intel that is analysts do understand that amd's numbers look good but because of the risk of possible price war the risk premium is high. Intel's risk premium should be inline with amd but there are too much clients money riding on intel

Another reason for inconsistent report vs. price targets is that the report was written first, then the Sr. Management decided they only want a strong buy on X semi stocks so they change the conclusions without rewriting the report.

Why do most analysts prescribe a PE=9 to AMD also ?

I don't know. Why do you care? It's obvious the analysts don't know jack. Why do people listen to anything they say? All they tell you is what happened over the last 6 months, and that's their forecast for the future.

I've been watching CNBC here in Europe, and by God do the American TV networks hang off every word an ANALyst mumbles. I spose CNBC et al. have nothing better than to ask some twat his opinion. Anyway, it gives me some idea why people care so much what analysts say - It's all you get on TV in the U.S.A.
