Well, okay, if we are going to indulge in fanciful scenarios:

On Election Day, lots of undecideds will walk into the voting booth, pull the curtain behind them, and ask themselves who, in their gut, they trust. They will ask themselves who is likelier to reach "across the aisle", and who is will do his best to keep his word, and whose account of things like his record is likeliest to hew to the truth.
And they will ask themselves if they really want to start building up the federal behemoth again, or would rather stand pat. I think they will have the image of Gore looking like a prig float through their minds, and will experience revulsion.And pull Bush/Cheney......
