You are also an expert in naval logistics I see. I am sure you should have been in command. I hope you will court martial the captain for hazarding his ship. None of this matters with respect to retaliation as you seem to think. Whatever mistakes the Navy made does not justify the attack on the Cole, as you seem to think. I despise you justifying the attack on the Cole. I hope we will retaliate. Your cowardly comments are irrelevant and historically perverse. We retaliated against no one for the Maine. Congress debated and declared war (Cuba was the principal cause, Spain agreed to arbitrate the blame for the sinking of the Maine. We retaliated against no one for the sinking of the Lusitania although we were furious for the sneak attack and the death of more than 100 Americans. The Tonkin Gulf incident was a mistake, but it served adequately to justify a war which the Administration wanted. I don't think it was the Navy's fault. The attack on the Cole was intentional and we must retaliate. At the moment, I am sure that we are pressuring potential sponsors for the truth. We would prefer to know who is actually responsible, but if necessary we will retaliate against the sponsors of the terrorists. In war, guilt by association is sufficient, and we are at war with Middle Eastern terrorists. Their sponsors must give them up, help us destroy them, or face the consequences. We have very long arms, and a nasty disposition.
