if you're talking about GE Capital, depends on what you mean by 'reserves'. their equity capital would be wiped out completely if only 4% of their assets turn into unrecoverable duds.
if you mean they can borrow more money if need be, i would agree...since they could point to the systemic risk a wipe-out of their capital base would pose,we can rest reasonably assured that every last avenue will be exhausted before their ship is allowed to sink.
