Don, nice. the term 'vertical disintegration' has just made it into my soundbite universe...this is btw. a trend that is manifest throughout the economy, and counts among the positive structural changes that have taken place in recent years.

These guys make pretty good money ... of course, they have to -- they buy their own insurance, do their own retirement (if they aren't already), etc. Still much cheaper overall, though as you mentioned ...

But wouldn't you think the companys still pay the new company and therefore productivity relatively unchanged?? And if they pay him less than before, there are real gains no?
