Sylvestor,
RE:"Do you have a link that the P-II was not a new design like I said? I await your link"

Don't play that link game, crapola.
P-II was a P6, "Pentium Pro" core...just like the original P3 and Coppermine and all the Celerons for that matter...

Someone already mentioned it was the infrastructure that made the release slower. That's one reason it "could" be compared to the P4 launch...
P4 could even be more radical...with more heavy duty PS, high cost Rambus etc.

Jim

Sly80, <Do you have a link that the P-II was not a new design like I said? I await your link.>

No need to show off your ignorance to this extent.

"The P6 family of processors is the generation of processors that succeeds the Pentium® line of Intel processors. This processor family implements Intel’s dynamic execution microarchitecture; which incorporates a unique combination of multiple branch prediction, data flow analysis, and speculative execution. This enables P6 family processors to deliver higher performance than the Pentium family of processors, while maintaining binary compatibility with all previous Intel Architecture processors. The P6 Family includes the Pentium® II Xeon™ processor, Pentium II processor, Pentium Pro processor,
Intel® Celeron ™ processor and Mobile Pentium II processor."

The Pentium II processor family’s significant performance improvement over previous Intel-Architecture processors is based on the seamless combination of the P6 microarchitecture and Intel MMX media enhancement technology. The result is higher software performance plus headroom for applications that take advantage of Intel MMX technology.
