Analysts will hopefully diminish greatly in importance with the new Reg FD that prevents a company from disclosing info to analysts prior to speaking to the public.

I find it absolutely amazing that even WITH a huge advantage that analysts have had over the rest of us that they have been SO HORRIBLE at predicting shortfalls.

This NT shortfall, imo, is only minor as they actually increased the earnings outlook going forward beyond even the highest analysts estimates.

Remember, the big boys WANT volatility and a chicken little scenario. That's how brokerage firms and analysts make money.

For those that did not realize this, there were a bunch of people who made 25 TIMES THEIR MONEY OVERNIGHT late last week by playing MSFT Oct. 55 calls!

That's right... up to 25 times!

Just before MSFT's earnings report the Oct 55 calls were selling for as low as 7/16. When the stock ran up to 66+, the options were worth around 11-12.

Believe me, the select few are making serious money in this market and the more volatile the better.
