Any Houstonians with first hand experience with these guys? If we are to believe the annual report they say ftth services can be profitable, even with a cut going to the developers. The claim 90% ftth take rates in the Northpointe residential community. Of course if they have 10 homes and 9 signed up.. well you get my point. In the press about the merger with Eagle Wireless they claim 60,000 current and another 140,000 projected subscribers in 12 months. They state pretty directly that these are ftth subscribers. Can that be true? What's the reality and what's the hype? From Clearworks 10Qfreeedgar.com ClearWorks began construction of its initial head-end facility in Houston, Texas during March 1999 in the Canyon Gate at Northpointe sub-division and began delivering its Bundled Digital Services to residents of Northpointe in July 1999. The Company is currently providing Bundled Digital Services to homeowners and generating monthly bills for services. The percentage of homeowners at Northpointe utilizing the Company's services, which are eligible for these services is in excess of 90%. The Company has structured the pricing for its Bundled Digital Services to make it advantageous, both from a price and convenience basis, for the homeowner by providing the homeowner a full package of voice, video and data services on one bill. ..the Company has established offices in Las Vegas, Nevada, the San Antonio/Austin, Texas area, Phoenix, Arizona and it intends to open a new office to be located in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area. The Company currently has contracts with five land developers to provide its services to eight sub-divisions in three cities, and presently is in negotiations with additional land developers to expand its area of operations. ...The Company pays the land developers a percentage of the revenues from the respective community, thus providing a stream of cash flow that was not previously available to the land developers. The contracts with the land developers provide the Company a preferred telecommunications vendor status within the community, marketing support by the land developer and head-end facility space within the community to build its integrated central office in order to provide its services. Eagle wireless info... According to Dr. H. Dean Cubley, President and CEO of Eagle Wireless, ``Prior to our merger announcement with ClearWorks.net, Eagle's marketing plan was on track to book a relatively large volume of Convergent Set-Top Box (CSTB) sales during the next year through the company's BroadbandMagic.com subsidiary. Now we can factor in the 60,000 homes ClearWorks.net already has under contract through their Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) program, as well as the additional 140,000 homes they expect to have under contract within the next 12 months.'' Both companies believe that at least 90% of these new homes will install one of Eagle's Webflyer CSTBs, along with a few of the related multi-media accessories that are available through the company. Based on that conservative assumption, at a one-time cost of $700 per package, Eagle Wireless should realize well over $100 million in additional set-top box sales next year. ``But that's just the tip of the iceberg,'' notes Cubley. ``The recurring revenues generated by the multi-year contract that includes the ClearWorks.net Bundled Digital Services (BDS) will exceed $450 million each year or a total of well over $10 billion over the next 25 years, and we have the capital to go to market quickly.'' clearworks.net
