TC,

I shut my router, cable modem, and upstairs computer down.

I left all off for several minutes. I powered up the modem and the router, then observed the leds on the router. I then booted the 'puter. I got the same error message, so I observed the leds on the router again. I had a orange led on. (I thought I noticed it before). I thought I might be on to something. After checking the manual, all the orange light signifies is that there is a successful connection thru the router. It appears the problem is somehow in the upstairs 'puter. No problems at all downstairs.

One side note.

A month or so ago, we had one hell of a thunderstorm. My router quit working. I reverted back to one 'puter on the cable modem. For some reason, I could plug my downstairs 'puter directly into the modem and it worked fine. My upstairs 'puter would not work when plugged directly into the modem. I figured it was most likely a software issue.
Everything worked fine before the storm.

Today, I got my new router, and attempted to reconnect everything as before the storm. The downstairs 'puter works as before, the upstairs one still won't work.

Any other ideas?

Again,
TIA,
Phil
