Since market always reflects what to come it knew that Bush would be up in the polls a bit by now and therefore it factored that into the prices well ahead (that is why you see such a bear market)!

One thing seems to be the case though, market will be in a downward trend mood till the election. If Bush wins (and based on the historical data of the past 75 years that after every Republican administration the stock market has done horribly) we will be in a pretty bad shape as the mother of all bull markets will come to an end!

If Gore wins then ... well.. things will continue as in the past 8 years and the fundamental concept of "If you wanna live like a Republican then vote for the Democrats" will continue to be true for at least the next 4 years!!
