Good post, I am watching for a re-entry point into the stock, after staying out from taking a 30 day tax loss, I took during the last pull back, from higher levels, unfortunately I missed the recent low, because the 30 day waiting period was still in effect. Your post is a good heads up call to anyone looking to take a longer term position. However based on the more recent developments and indications from Avanex itself, during the recent conference call, it looks like the company's timely and successful roll out of their state of the art optical switches is going better than expected. This being the case, you have a situation where of recent Avanex's stock, has been trading more positively than its peers. To me some of the overvaluation in the optical switching and related high tech switching stocks, will sorting itself out as the clear winners emerge, with large orders, which will increase their earnings dramatically. Non the less your post gives good guidance to move cautiously, at these levels of overvaluation, while the optical switching story unfolds. I talked to a money manager the other day who was unfamiliar with the Avanex story, to him the extremely high valuation of the stock, was enough reason to not be interested in investing. But then again, he tends not to invest in high p.e. situations in general, and as a consequence doesn't invest in a whole universe of stocks.

Robert the first part of your projection of 80,70 or 55 came to pass today, Avanex hit 80 before bouncing. The big boys took some of the high valuation out of the high tech. co.s for the 21 century today. I had to keep leaving the screen, only to come back to higher prices off the low, I hesitated and second guessed myself, as I exspected the move up not to hold. Oh well, for today it looks like, one will have to learn to live with high valuations. We shall see what jdsu's conference call brings. As I close I see avanex has moved back up in the after market, from the close, maybe good news coming from jdsu.
