Cummings: Mike DaWhiner is polling about 60 percent of the vote in Ohio for his re-election bid and the latest Columbus Dispatch poll shows Bush clinging to a narrow 2-percentage-point lead over Gore.

That means about a half-million Ohioans plan to vote for DeWine for Senate but not for Bush for president.

It warms my heart to see Ohio, in the heartland of America, coming to its senses and seeing Gore's transparent phoniness for what it is. If I had access to Gore's world-class political propaganda machine, I'd probably look pretty good at first glance, too, even without Rolling Stone's airbrush artists. Kudos to the Buckeyes for starting to cut through the propaganda bull to see the real Gore. It seems for now that Ohio isn't falling for, "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bulls***."

Speaking of, "If you...," that's the battle cry for Gore's manipulative tax proposals and big government programs. It's based on a big government running peoples' lives, using tax credits and deductions to get you to do what Gore wants. "If you...do what the government wants," is going to be how you make every day decisions, if Gore gets elected. "If you" think you already make some decisions, e.g. investment decisions, because of the tax consequences, and sometimes those consequences hurt you, just wait until Gore sets his, "If you..." policies into full force.

For nostalgia's sake, and our country's, I hope that Ohio's neighboring state, Michigan, which is my native state where I was born and bred, and where fond memories of my childhood still take me, also will stand against Gore and his arrogant propaganda machine, which puts the people third, behind Gore and his proposed, "If you...," big federal government. I can just begin to imagine Gore's, "If you...," ultimatums to Detroit.

George Bush and Spencer Abraham will serve Michigan much better, imho.
