Re. "..John Roth, Nortel chief executive, shrugged off the after-hours sell-off. "This is trading in pretty thin volumes. Let's see what happens tomorrow (Wednesday)."

This is generally true. However, Instinet trading of NT was exceedingly heavy today, totalling more than 6 million shares. I wouldn't call it "thin" exactly.

I was wondering where were those shares coming from myself. One possibility is the MMs traded among themselves (to some extent), creating volume as well as a downward spiral. They have been known to do that.

S100---Good evening ---of the thirty five analysts that follow NT only five had higher estimates in the 7.6 billion range . Really interesting Merrill came out Monday and said NT was one of the ten core Technology holdings that you must own for the next three years . The first analyst to come out tonight right after they announced ( even before the conference call ) was the Merrill analyst and said the revenues was on the light side at 7.63 billion dollars . Wonder if they wanted the stock lower to buy on the cheap side ? Boy do they talk out of both sides of their mouth's . By the way before the earnings announcement the WSJ had a range on the revenue side of 7.3 to 7.6 billion .
To me they are a company in the right place and working on all cylinders . Roth said the major issue was having enough technical qualified people to keep with the installation schedules
Wish the "Q" had their problem's
