That is exactly *why* self-install is needed. It takes the mystery out of the whole process. Suddenly people realize that a modem is a modem- you just plug it into a different jack in the house.

The current method of installs could have gotten them closer to 3 million.....
If I understood what was said in the CC they do not expect self-install to have a significant impact in q4. Only Comcast is going all out right now with it. So I guess you are right.
