i do the same thing to some extent. i only recently did some buying when stocks on my buy list got near my pre-determined buy points. but then the collapse of the stocks concerned took place in such a short time that they seemed to me to discount a hell of a lot of bad news versus the near term prospects already.
my comment was to be understood in the following way: if some time passes until NT got to the mentioned target price, economic conditions, or company specific fundamentals may have deteriorated to such an extent as to warrant determination of a new target price before jumping in.

i agree otherwise absolutely with the concept of both buying and selling a little early...that's a well known and generally successful strategy.
