If saving time and money is the goal- Why not bury the deceased on the back 40 in a homemade pine casket. That's what they did in the old days. Only cost is the headstone. I suppose you could make your own of that too.

Do it yourself cremation would be pretty easy too. Just need a gallon of kerosene and some acreage.. You could spread the ashes right there where you burn.

I heard da sopranos practice this do it yourself stuff all da time. hoho
