michael, RE: We had asia, hedge funds, y2k, interest rates and in the end csco is about even for the year.

The Asian crisis was over 2 years ago. This year the Asian economies have been strong.

Hedge funds have sharply outperformed the market this year.

Y2K was a non-event rather than the nuclear winter that Yardini predicted.

Interest rates for long bonds, which are the most relevant to Cisco's stock price, are down sharply this year.

With all that good news, CSCO is still only flat for the year. I'd hate to see what would happen if the macroeconomic news turns bad.
