OT, Katherine, Taking away the subject we were discussing, this same line could easily be applied to Gore, and it would be more appropriate IMHO: His resume is a good demonstration of the power of connections, but I don't see a whole lot of leadership ability there. FWIW, I hear many Democrats making the argument that Gore is a leader because he is VP. However, when Quyale ran, they were making arguments the exact opposite, yet the media does not seem to catch this!?!? As I said before, I am not a political person by nature(am independent), but I would vote for Brittany Spears before Gore. Brian

Bottom Shopping Are we seeing less negative reaction to bad news? Cell phone maker Nokia warned about 6 months ago that Q3 would be light and that they should be OK in Q4. Amat headed South from $115 soon after Since then, it seems that every piece of bad new that this or that end user of ICs might see a slowing would drive AMAT lower. (PCs, wireless phones and Networking/infrastructure have been the 3 big users plus maybe games) Bad news for cell Phones, then PC makers AAPL and Dell, then Europe for some companies like Intel... all sent AMAT lower. Now one of the hottest and fastest growing segments actually saw a lower order quarter (Nortel in Optical Networking) and you would think this huge user of silicon would cause AMAT to get hammered again... but AMAT is up as I type. Are all the sellers gone? Shouldn't NT's news have been as bad as just about any of the other bad news items that sent AMAT reeling? Kirk
