Cary,

The school you are referring(Bob Jones Univ I believe) to did have weird views on many things and indeed Bush spoke there, but he did not know to the degree of their views until after. This is all on record.

This is an issue because the hate crimes currently on the books do NOT include sexual orientation.


If this is the case, then I agree with you that it must be changed.

The Republicans are the ones working to keep it that way.


I would argue this unless facts pointed to the contrary. So often there are bills that are not voted for by members of Congress, which have other things attached to them that the public never sees. Most of the time this is why they will vote a bill down, although there certainly are backward thinking Republicans, and Democrats for that matter.

By the way, I am not ignorant

You certainly are not, but some of your arguments were not well phrased, which is why I was most surprised.
